Born #OTD 1915: the ‘other’ Blondell girl, Gloria Blondell

Photo: Warner Bros.

A stunning beauty in her own right, Gloria Blondell and her more famous older sister, Joan Blondell, were born into a vaudeville troupe known as the ‘Bouncing Blondells’. Though her Hollywood résumé is modest, she may be best remembered today as the voice of Daisy Duck in classic Disney shorts.

Photo: actress Gloria Blondell in a gracefully studied pose atop a brick wall on an outdoor set, her legs crossed at the knee. Swathed in a dress of ruffles and bows, she lifts the hem to reveal tier upon tier of delicate ruffles. Her head is adorned with a grand hat speckled with delightful embellishments, and her wrist is wrapped in bracelets. A mass of curls cascades around her face, which rests upon her hand, her gaze fixed upon the lens with an air of regal composure.
