Born #OTD 1941: Jackie DeShannon

The ravishing songstress hailing from Hazel, Kentucky, renowned for her 1965 rendition of ‘What the World Needs Now Is Love’, penned by Hal David and Burt Bacharach. A guileless and rather silly sentiment, characteristic of its time, yet rendered by Jackie DeShannon with amazing conviction and sincerity.
