Born #OTD 1947: Cheryl Tiegs, America’s first supermodel

SI 1975

The resplendent Cheryl Tiegs, pictured here in 1975 and 1983, is a fair maiden of Minnesota, born of German lineage. She shall forever be renowned as one of the most prolific Sports Illustrated swimsuit beauties, and was the first to grace the covers of the publication's annual swimsuit editions on multiple occasions. Although she revealed as much skin as others in her trade, she always maintained a wholesome, 'girl next door' aura that few, if any, have been able to emulate.
